Group J Blog Two, "Favorite Teacher K-5"

I've had a lot of teachers over the years. Some great, some okay, and some that were a real pain to put up with. One of my favorite teachers along the way (that I can still remember enough details about to write this) was my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Bishop. I think the reason I enjoyed learning from her so much is that she always made her lessons interesting, and when she could, hands-on. I remember for a science lesson once instead of just doing dull activities out of a textbook we actually were given a task to do something. We were given a few items and an egg. We had some time to put together something which we thought would allow the egg to remain intact... after a five foot drop. The point of this little project was to learn about molecules and how some can cushion impacts better due to a wider web of molecules. Doing projects like this along the way were some of the things we made fifth grade great. She was the kind of teacher who taught without a book. We obviously still used a book for information here and there, but a majority of her lessons came from talking about the subject as a group. I would say that fifth grade was definitely one of the best years in my school career, and I owe it all to the teacher, Mrs. Bishop.
